After Rome in 2025, we headed to another “City of Seven Hills” in February of this year: the vibrant and charming city of Lisbon hosted our annual Board of Partners and Course Directors’ meetings, with support of Portugal’s National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection. Here are the key points discussed:

  • Performance Assessment and Evaluation Manual: A comprehensive revision is underway to improve objectivity, transparency, and alignment with learning objectives. Annalisa Creta and Sean Moore will develop a revised trainers' manual.
  • E-Learning Development: The working group set guidelines and templates for online courses to boost accessibility and engagement in the EU Academy. Jens-Olaf Knapp keeps implementing web-asynchronous content for the 22nd training cycle.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: Our D&I Handbook was presented in print; a D&I Trainers Manual was finalized. Both are published on the EU Knowledge Network. In the lead was Public Health Expert and Humanitarian Consultant Erika Wichro.
  • Code of Conduct: A draft for course participants was presented; feedback from course directors is sought before implementation.
  • Ukraine Update: Volodymyr Hembrovych of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine shared his thoughts on war and civil protection in his motherland.
  • Future Tender Bid Workshop: Working group discussions focused on a potential tender bid by the TVC consortium, as well as the potential roles partners could play and how tender improvements should be prioritized.
