Two international workshops were organised by Cedre in May to provide training in the use of decision-support tools for maritime incidents. These tools (database, decision-support guide, prediction models) were developed as part of the European MANIFESTS Genius project.
The first workshop was held on 15 May during the REMPEC Focal Points meeting in Sliema, Malta, with over forty participants. Printed documents and "tool" cards were provided. Based on a maritime incident scenario simulating a methanol leak in the Greek port of Piraeus, the participants, split into small groups, used the MANIFESTS Genius tools to manage events. The second workshop, based on a different scenario involving an ammonia leak in the French port of Le Havre, was run on 22 May for around ten participants at the OTSOPA meeting held at Cedre. The next workshop will be organised for HELCOM Contracting Parties in late September 2025.
