MANIFESTS Genius workshop: presentation of the decision-support tools to MAR-ICE Beneficiaries

Following the expansion of MAR-ICE to Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) and European Neighborhood Policies (ENP) beneficiary countries in January 2025 – and two familiarization sessions – Cedre, as the MAR-ICE Contact Point, together with EMSA, hosted the first in-person training on the use of the service in its premises in Brest, France.

Representatives from Egypt, Lebanon, Moldova, Morocco, Montenegro, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine gathered for this 3-day session (21-23 October), designed to provide new MAR-ICE network members with knowledge of response strategies and techniques in the event of accidental HNS pollution for new members joining the MAR-ICE network. Key training objectives:

  • Improving knowledge of the behaviour of chemical when accidentally released at sea and the associated hazards;
  • Improving knowledge of the actions and strategies to be implemented following a HNS spill;
  • Increasing awareness of key technical support organizations and experts that can be mobilized;
  • Enhance understanding of the functioning and support provided by the MAR-ICE service.

As part of this training, Cedre also organized the 3rd international workshop dedicated to the MANIFESTS Genius decision-support platform. Through a realistic scenario of an incident involving a LNG leak, participants directly explored the platform’s range of freely accessible decision-support tools, gaining practical experience in their application.
