On 30 October 2025, the SUNSHINE project consortium successfully held its first webinar, bringing together over 50 participants to explore how EU Space data and services can strengthen EU Member States civil protection operations before, during, and after disasters.
Building on a train-the-trainer approach, SUNSHINE empowers national experts to become multipliers of knowledge within their own organisations and networks. Through its capacity-building programme, the project promotes the practical use of Copernicus, Galileo, SSA, and GOVSATCOM services, helping civil protection authorities, emergency coordinators, technical teams, and first responders integrate space-based information into everyday operations.
SUNSHINE’s activities aim to:
- Increase the understanding and uptake of EU Space data and services among national civil protection authoritities
- Promote the integration and adoption of Galileo Emergency Warning Satellite Service (EWSS) in national systems and procedures
- Identify innovative ways of managing crises, by means of trainings, demonstrations, exercises, assessment studies, and technical assistance, where relevant
