UCPM Training Programme welcomes young lecturers in training courses

By Knowledge Network – Staff memberPublished on

The new cycle of UCPM training courses for civil protection and disaster management stakeholders started with the Mechanism Introduction Course for National Authorities UCPM Contact Points (NCP).

I am eager to contribute to the continued development of this critical and dynamic field. As the demands on civil protection continue to grow, it is essential to prepare more people with the necessary skills and confidence to navigate the complexities we face today. A key challenge for the entire civil protection community is staying aware of the many evolving risks—whether they arise from climate change or geopolitical tensions—in order to ensure that their impact is anticipated. Equally important is finding ways to share this knowledge with a wider audience to ensure broader preparedness.

The introduction of several new lecturers brings fresh perspectives and broadens the pool of training staff. The UCPM Training Programme employs hundreds of training staff in the roles of lecturer, facilitator, and trainer/coach. These professionals hold a key role in the success of the UCPM Training. They closely support course participants in their learning experience and create the best learning conditions for their comprehensive understanding of the UCPM and its various tools and activities.

It is a privilege to share knowledge with like-minded colleagues all over Europe and beyond, on how to function and navigate within the ambitious UCPM that we know today. The Civil Protection sphere keeps evolving, let’s evolve with it!

The NCP course's primary goal is to raise awareness about the UCPM's functionality, focusing on enhancing the abilities of UCPM contact points to effectively engage with the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) and utilise UCPM tools and procedures. The course is organized by a consortium of eight national civil protection authorities, under the leadership of the Belgian Directorate-General for Civil Protection.

The next Mechanism Course for National Authorities UCPM Contact Points (NCP) course residential part will take place in Brussels, Belgium, from 5 to 7 November. More information on the UCPM Training Programme courses is available here.
