Description
The ANPE is a public institution of a non-administrative nature (EPNA), created by Law No. 88-91 of 2 August 1988, its supervision and its main missions were amended by Law 92-115 of 30 November 1992 and this, following the creation of a Ministry in charge of the environment.
Under the supervision of the Ministry of the Environment, the ANPE's missions include:
- Participate in the development of the government's general policy on pollution control and environmental protection, and its implementation through specific and sectoral actions as well as global actions within the framework of the national development plan
- Propose to the competent authorities any measure of a general or special nature intended to ensure the implementation of the State's policy on pollution control and environmental protection, and in particular measures to ensure the preservation of the environment and to strengthen the mechanisms leading to it, and in general to propose measures for the prevention of risks and natural or industrial disasters
- Fight against all sources of pollution and nuisance and against all forms of environmental degradation.
