Description
The role and powers of the corporation are adapted to the new scenario outlined, on the one hand, by the powers and powers of the Generalitat emanating from the Statute, and, on the other, the laws on land planning that, among others, are created by county councils. The collaboration with the Generalitat and at the same time the strengthening of its role as representative of the Girona region and its municipalities are two constants of the era of democratic recovery. Since then, the vocation of public service to municipalities and citizens has characterized the corporation.
With regard to the future of the entity, the Statute of Autonomy of 2006 provides for the replacement of provincial councils by vegueries councils, a change that will be carried out when the Parliament of Catalonia approves the corresponding ordinary law of conversion.
