Description

Government Centre for Security – a state budget unit subordinate to the Prime Minister, providing services to the Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister, the Government Crisis Management Team and the minister competent for internal affairs in matters of crisis management, and acting as the national crisis management centre. The Government Centre for Security is headed by a director appointed by the Prime Minister.

The Government Centre for Security coordinates the process of preventing crises and, if they occur, coordinates the process of minimising their effects. It assesses the risk of threats to national security – it unifies the perception of threats by individual ministries, and thus increases the ability of competent services and public administration bodies to cope with difficult situations. It operates at the supra-ministerial level.

Civilian experts, service officers and soldiers of the Polish Army work here.

The equivalent of the Government Center for Security is, m.in, FEMA (USA).
