Description

The National School of Firefighters (ENB) is a non-profit private entity and public utility collective that has as associates the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) and the Portuguese Fire Brigade League (LBP).
Recognized as a pedagogical authority in the technical training of Portuguese firefighters, it is ENB that, since 1988, has been developing the qualifications and specializations essential to the increasingly demanding mission of firefighters and other protection and rescue agents.

This fundamental mission that the ENB plays in the development of the national civil protection system has been extended, as of 2011, to the municipal domain through the training of firefighters and municipal staff .

Over more than two decades promoting «knowing how to serve», ENB has accumulated a vast amount of experience duly recognized and certified at national and international level. This formative credibility is also made available to all citizens, public and private entities through the Services Center for Institutions and Companies .

ENB is headquartered at Quinta do Anjinho , in Sintra, where it developed as the national center for the qualification of Portuguese firefighters, a position that has been shared through initiatives to decentralize its activity, primarily through a national network of accredited external trainers, later with the foundation of training centers in Lousã and S. João da Madeira . In 2009, ENB started the implementation of Local Training Units strategically distributed throughout the mainland, thus bringing the training offer closer to its recipients.

In 2014, the School outlined the lines of action of the Strategic Training Plan 2014-2016 : improving access, guaranteeing quality and fostering innovation. In order to achieve these objectives, an auditing system, a Digital DTP and a proprietary platform for managing the training of more than 30,000 firefighters were introduced.

ENB also invested in the development of new courses, in partnership with polytechnic institutes and international bodies, and renewed its multimedia content as well as its e-learning platform. In terms of infrastructure, in 2015, one of the best simulation and virtual reality centers for firefighters was inaugurated in Sintra and, in 2016, a modern Training Camp for Urban and Industrial Fire Fighting.
