Overview

Description

Red Cross of North Macedonia is established on March 17th 1945 and operates and function as an independent National Society since May 21, 1992. On November 1st 1995, is officially recognized as a National Society by the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), and on November 25th 1995 becomes 169th  member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The most important conditions about recognizing the National Society of Red Cross of North Macedonia are:

  1. Acceptance of the Geneva Conventions from  August 12th , 1949 and the Additional Protocols from 1977. The Government of Republic of North Macedonia ratifies the above mentioned documents on August 25th 1993.
  2. The Assembly of Republic of North Macedonia adopt the Law for Red Cross of North Macedonia on July 26th 1994.

The organization, the scope and the method of work of the bodies and the departments, through which the Red Cross carries out the tasks, the number and the way of the selection of body members and the services are determined by the Red Cross Statute which is in full compliance with the Statute of the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
