Description

The Integration of multi-flexible expert teams into overall response efforts (Inn-Quake) project aims to bolster disaster resilience within remote regions of Austria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic and the wider Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), directly supporting Union Disaster Resilience Goals (DRG): 1. Anticipate, 2. Prepare, 4. Respond, and 5. Secure. Through a series of exercises, including a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) in Madrid, Spain, focusing on Host Nation Support (HNS), a Command Post Exercise (CPX) in Greece on the urban-wildland interface, and a Full-Scale Field Exercise (FSX) in the Tyrolean Alps, Austria, the project will test and refine response procedures. Accompanying workshops will address impact chains and cascading risks in the urban-wildland interface, seeking solutions for supporting affected populations in remote areas, including those with specific needs, and developing guidance for small, multi-flexible teams. The project will also raise public awareness, support the implementation of the new European Union (EU) HNS guidelines also in remote areas, integrate multi-flexible expert teams into larger responses, incorporating scientific insights and addressing cross-cutting issues such as vulnerable groups, tourists and civil-military coordination to achieve a more robust Union Civil Protection system. In the end, the project aims for a stronger territorial penetration with safety for all citizens in the UCPM, especially in times of cascading, hybrid threats.
