During the week of 27–31 October, the OVERWATCH Project carried out its live wildfire pilot exercise in Abrantes, Portugal.
The project team tested the developed technology stack in a wildfire scenario, showcasing the restoration of critical communications (fallback connectivity via a tethered drone), Galileo-supported drone operations, and EO-based detection and mapping for enhanced situational awareness. All components fed into an Augmented Reality coordination system deployed at the Command Post.
