06-Real Scale Monitoring of Floating Containers

This task is a close complement to the previous task-05 (Detection of floating containers through satellite images). In order to have a solid benchmark test for the validation and optimization of the containers tracking algorithm developed in Task-05, one of the neighbouring countries' partners presented the possibility to carry out a real scale test of container drifting in the coastal waters of Tripoli harbour.

The test will be carried out choosing specific days when satellites are expected to cover the area of the test. The result of this activity will be to have a sound set of satellite images with one or two floating containers freely drifting in the sea. The test will involve the use of different colours for the containers employed to test the robustness and reliability of the algorithm to change the colour of the floating object (it would be desirable to employ at least one red container and one blue container).

In conclusion, task-06 is designed to complement the effort of the previous task-05 (Detection of floating containers through satellite images) by adopting a real scale test of container drifting in the coastal waters of Tripoli harbour, so as to attain solid benchmark test for the validation and optimization of the containers tracking algorithm. The result of this activity will be to have a sound set of satellite images with one or two floating containers freely drifting in the sea
