Technical Visit to GEBKİM OIZ by the RESMAR Project Team

Fieldwork continues within the scope of the "Making Industrial Organizations Resilient to Disasters with a Business Continuity Management Approach (RESMAR)" Project, co-financed by the European Union and AFAD, with a technical visit to GEBKİM (Kocaeli Gebze V. Chemical Specialized) Organized Industrial Zone.

The meeting commenced with opening remarks by Mehmet Emin Koçan, Kocaeli Provincial Director of Disaster and Emergency Management, Mehmet Fatih Şen, Head of Technological Disaster Risks Reduction Working Group and Deniz Delioğlu, Regional Manager of GEBKİM OIZ, emphasizing the objectives of maintaining the operational sustainability of industrial facilities following a disaster. During the presentation delivered by Business Continuity Expert Şükrü Yasin Güven, planning methodologies and documentation processes were addressed. Since GEBKİM OIZ had previously completed the business continuity forms, the meeting allowed for general evaluations regarding the project's progress in light of the existing data.

In the subsequent workshop and field tour, project experts Emin Yahya Menteşe and Kadir Tomas conducted detailed examinations and gathered information regarding the units and field operations. The visit, where technical processes for ensuring operational continuity during potential crises and disasters were detailed, also focused on the plan preparation stages. Within the framework of the RESMAR Project, fieldwork will continue to ensure that industrial organizations are prepared for disasters.
