UCPM Peer Reviews 2025-2027 - New call for expressions of interest

By Knowledge Network – Staff memberPublished on

Distributed to Civil Protection Directors General and members of the Civil Protection Committee (CPC), the Commission launched a call for expressions of interest on 11 December.

The call targets eligible countries—including Member States and Participating States in the UCPM, as well as Enlargement and Neighbourhood countries—interested in undergoing a UCPM peer review.

Managed by DG ECHO, a peer review is an instrument under the UCPM legislation available for countries/regions to reflect on their readiness to cope with natural and man-made disasters and to identify ways of strengthening their broader prevention and preparedness system. A review is carried out in close partnership between ECHO, a team of experts “peers” from other countries and the civil protection authorities of the country/region under review.

The upcoming peer review programme cycle gives DG ECHO the possibility to carry out up to six peer reviews. The call seeks expressions of interest for the first three slots for peer reviews to be performed during 2025-2026. Countries and regions wishing to request a peer review are invited to express their interest as soon as possible and no later than 31 January 2025.
