This autumn, two major EU Civil Protection initiatives: EWED Hackathon and SUNSHINE Training Seminars will bring experts together to strengthen Europe’s disaster preparedness.
Wildfires
Two major EU initiatives are strengthening disaster preparedness this autumn:
EWED Training Event & Hackathon (21–23 October 2025, Wageningen, Netherlands)
Experts in wildfire management and meteorology will meet to exchange knowledge and develop solutions for understanding extreme wildfire events.
SUNSHINE Training Seminars (starting 24–28 November 2025, Tallinn, Estonia)
Civil protection practitioners are invited to express interest in a new series of seminars focused on using EU Space tools, such as Copernicus and Galileo for improved disaster resilience.
- EWED Online Training Event for Scandinavian countries (11 - 25 November 2025, online)
Together, these events are helping to enhance Europe’s capacity to predict, prepare for, and respond to complex emergencies.
