The first keynote will be delivered by a representative of the Ministry of Climate Change and Civil Protection, focusing on national strategy and practices for managing affected populations and sheltering following disasters.

Experience and strategies following disasters in Thessaly

10:50–11:10

E. Porichi, Director of Civil Protection at the Prefecture of Thessaly, will share experience and strategies developed following the Elassona earthquake in March 2021 and Storm Daniel in September 2023. The presentation will provide insights into disaster management and sheltering experiences in the region that hosts the Prep2Shelter Thessaly pilot study.

Post-earthquake management following the 2023 earthquake sequence in Türkiye

11:10–11:30

The third keynote will be delivered by Dr. Recep Cakir from AFAD, focusing on post-earthquake management after the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake sequence in Türkiye. The presentation will provide an additional perspective on post-earthquake management and the challenges faced following a major seismic event.
