Description

FIRESKILL - Modern Wildfire Training System for Czech Firefighters: The primary objective of the project is to enhance the training and operational capabilities of Czech firefighters by analysing and integrating advanced firefighting training systems and methodologies, particularly drawing on the the experiences and best practices of Spain, Portugal, and France. Effective wildfire management requires not only modern firefighting equipment, but also a comprehensive training system on wildfires adapted to the existing Czech firefighting training system and implemented in it. The specific objective of the project is to support the implementation of the EU Wildfire Prevention Action Plan. The project aims to develop methodical training materials and course curricula to be systematically implemented across all levels of firefighter training in the Czech Republic. These materials will incorporate innovative techniques and methodologies proven effective in Southern European countries, combined with modern technologies such as drones and advanced firefighting equipment. A critical component of this project involves detailed studies and evaluations of specialised firefighter training centres and educational programmes in Spain, Portugal, and France. The project builds on outcomes from previous Czech wildfires' preparedness and response activities such as the Report of the Advisory Mission to the Czech Republic - Wildfire risk management (Advisory Mission 4 - 15 March 2024 organised under the Union Civil Protection Mechanism). Furthermore, the response of the Czech Republic within the UCPM in the last years with its Ground Forest Firefighting module, including vehicles to Greece, brought invaluable experience. It highlighted a need for a more systematic adaption of the current training system of Czech firefighters to be more capable to face current threats as well as a need to increase European preparedness on wildfires. The overarching aim is to modernise and systematise wildland fire training within the Czech Republic, ensuring that firefighters at all levels receive comprehensive and specialised instruction, fully aligned with European standards and operational realities.
