Description

Based on the successful TEAMS 1.0 and TEAMS 2.0 projects, TEAMS 3.0 focuses on revising and updating the TEAMS training package, developing new scenarios and exercises for the package and promoting the package to Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) in Europe to enhance cross-border emergency management.

The ‘TEAMS 1.0’ project developed an innovative operational training package concentrating on teamwork to assist EMTs in preparing for deployment. Since its completion in 2018, EMTs around the world have been able to access a free training package comprised of simulation-based exercises specifically designed to improve their performance through situations that are likely to take place on the field.

The ‘TEAMS 2.0’ project developed an innovative ‘Training of Trainers’ programme composed of e-learning modules and face-to-face workshops to train novice team leaders and training managers of EMC/EMT organisations on how to effectively use the TEAMS training package. The resulting e-learning platform, The Trainer’s Compass, is available online.

TEAMS 3.0 builds on the achievements of these projects by involving new partners, experts and EU EMT organisations. It offers new scenarios and exercises for the TEAMS training package to train EMTs to respond to outbreaks, man-made disasters and other possible cross-border risks. It also disseminates the updated training package, engaging EMTs in Europe to enhance cross-border emergency management through training programmes and joint cross-border small-scale exercises. The initiative complements the World Health Organization’s (WHO) EMT initiative.

"Thanks to the TEAMS projects, European Medical Teams around the world have now the option to access, free-of-charge, a validated training package to enhance their teamwork capacities for future deployments, strengthen their preparedness and improve safety and security, coordination and team dynamics.

The added value of the TEAMS training package is the scientific methodology beyond the creation of the training package. This is possible thanks to the mixed composition of our consortium, that brings together both the scientific and the operational sides".
