Start of the new UCPM Training Programme
The new UCPM Training Programme kicks off with a course introducing the Union Mechanism in Volterra, Italy.
Following its launch in July, the new UCPM Training Programme kicked off this week with the Union Mechanism Introduction course (UMI). The residential part of the UMI took place from 10 to 14 September in Volterra, Italy.
As the first course of the UCPM Training Programme, the UMI provides participants with knowledge about the UCPM, the disaster management principles and the legal framework for civil protection and humanitarian aid. This course is the introductory level for individuals wanting to explore their potential to develop as UCPM deployable professionals in different roles and functions, also enhancing their understanding of the international disaster environment.
The UCPM Training Programme offers tailored training pathways, aiming at preparing experts from the field to perform different roles within the UCPM.
While the "deployable" pathway leads to participants qualifying for deployment under the UCPM, the "non-deployable" track targets civil protection personnel from Member and Participating States who play a role in European civil protection at national level. Specialised training opportunities and free online modules are also available to interested stakeholders.
