Description
"Civil protection actors are faced with the need to improve preparedness strategies for a wide range of risks, including those arising from climate-related disasters, as well as escalating conflicts and security threats. Against this background, and within the framework of ""Priority 4: Ensuring a robust civil protection system by strengthening institutional preparedness and individual capacity"" of the KAPP Call 2025, this project aims to (1) develop solutions to integrate lessons learned, at organisational and individual level, into existing structures and processes to improve national and international civil protection preparedness for defence situations. As a foundation and a product, the project will (2) facilitate the development and sharing of knowledge at organisational and systemic levels against a common emerging threat, the consequences of armed conflict for civil protection authorities. In this context, an expected outcome is the creation of a common understanding of civil protection preparedness for defence situations through a background study of existing national and international concepts and a series of validation workshops. This in turn will facilitate the drafting of specific case studies on lessons learned by civil protection authorities in defence situations, in order to facilitate a broad integration of these insights into national planning. In addition, the project activities, in particular the international conference, will provide a platform to build a sustainable network for (future) cooperation and knowledge sharing on civil protection preparedness within the UCPM framework and will conclude with the development of a training curriculum to support the sustainable dissemination and building of relevant skills for civil protection actors, enabling them to better respond to defence-related situations. In this sense, the project will contribute to the further development of the EU DRG No. 5.3, improving cross-border coordination capability."
