Description
DiMaND worked with disaster management organisations to strengthen the Disaster Management Network in the Danube Region. It has a special focus on cross-border cooperation - since disasters know no borders – and on bringing governmental and non-governmental organisations together to improve disaster preparedness and response.
More cooperation between volunteer and professional civil protection services means that teams and equipment are more compatible and work well together when it counts.
Working with disaster management organisations across the Danube region, DiMaND provides supports in adapting to new challenges in disaster preparedness. The project supports organisations to prepare for the disaster risks and effects of climate change that are specific to the region.
DiMaND develops recommendations based on what works, and works with disaster management experts to find gaps in preparedness and response activities. Working together in workshops and other activities brings improved coordination between the different stakeholders, from national civil protection authorities, local governance and firefighter associations, to humanitarian actors and volunteer organisations.
DiMaND has an interactive platform that host infographics, videos, a glossary and a registry, all products to support organisations across the region in their disaster preparedness and response.
The project works with the Disaster Management Working Group of EU Strategy for the Danube Region Environmental Risks Priority Area. This group develops cooperation between disaster management stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of disaster preparedness and response at macro-regional level.
