Description
The INDIMA project works to develop and enhance a network concept for improved and holistic civil protection and disaster risk management. To build the network, it integrates relevant stakeholders in pre-planned joint preparedness and response activities.
Its main objective is to enhance cooperation and coordination among a range of actors including governmental and non-governmental, civil and military, and public and private stakeholders. The project covers needs assessment, key stakeholder mapping, online surveys, as well as workshops on communication, legal aspects and interoperability. Development of the network has resulted in a handbook and checklists. The concept will be tested in a two-day simulation exercise with 40 participants from various European countries. The virtual scenario will involve a large disaster affecting several EU and non-EU states. It aims to put the concept to the test in order to gain knowledge and strengthen synergies between civil protection, humanitarian aid organisations and private entities. The findings will be analysed and a final checklist and recommendations will be published.
