Sweden is currently strengthening its approach to disaster risk management, emphasising resilience, preparedness, and cross-sectoral coordination. In this context, there is a growing recognition of the need for a more coherent and comprehensive disaster risk data system to support informed decision-making and effective prevention efforts.

Around 120 researchers, policymakers and civil protection practitioners from across Europe gathered in Tallinn, Estonia, from 26 to 28 May for the fifth Evidence for Policy in Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Summer School.

Since 2021, renewed activity across two interacting volcanic systems in the Reykjanes Peninsula has resulted in repeated fissure eruptions, tectonic deformation, and persistent seismicity. On 16 April 2026, 14 new projects funded under the Knowledge for Action in Prevention and Preparedness (KAPP-PVPP) 2025 call for proposals were officially launched during a kick-off event in Brussels.
